Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Michael Coleman’s work is influenced by his professional experience as an Illustrator, Graphic Designer, and Muralist. He especially appreciates his time in New Mexico working for Opp Art Inc with commercial clients such as the Paris Casino in Las Vegas the Imus Ranch, for Kids with Cancer, near Ribera, New Mexico. With a passion for teaching, Michael has taught art in both highschools and college and has his MA in Curriculum and Instructional Leadership. Michael moved his family back to the Kansas City area in 2016 and now teaches at the Guadalupe Centers Charter High School. His work has transcendental and spiritual themes in lush colors taking from both realism and surrealism. He creates both Visionary and Fantastic Realism. His Body, Mind & Soul Series incorporates the concepts Sacred Geometry in large format oil painting loosely based on the concept of “squaring the circle,” a visual expression or metaphor for doing something logically or intuitively impossible.
